Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie has begun the mind games with Cardiff City already

Cardiff City 's relegation from the Premier League means that for the first time in five years, we will have a South Wales derby to look forward to next season.

Defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday confirmed the Bluebirds' return to the Championship, where they will once again go toe-to-toe with bitter rivals Swansea City . It's been a somewhat mixed season for the Swans, who under Graham Potter have shown encouraging signs of progress after suffering a devastating relegation of their own from the top flight last season.

One of the big positives has been the performances of striker Oli McBurnie, whose tally of 22 goals has made him one of the Championship's most feared goalscorers.

It's clear he enjoys a bit of banter too, recently reaching out to a Swans fan who had a drink thrown at him in Cardiff city centre , offering to send him a new shirt.

He tweeted at the time: "Anyone know the Swans fan? Tell him to get in touch. Will send him a new shirt to wear around Cardiff. #Jack."

Now, he's decided to have a tongue-in-cheek dig at the Bluebirds once again with a couple of teasing social media posts.

On his official Twitter page , the Scottish international tweeted a picture of him scoring against Cardiff during his loan spell with Barnsley.

And, on his Instagram story, the forward put up the same picture, combined with the caption 'Easy'.

The post predictably delighted Swans fans, with several supporters labelling the 22-year old as a 'legend', while another called him 'the best striker in the league'.

However, Cardiff fans couldn't resist taking a swipe back, with many pointing out that the picture was from a game that McBurnie's Barnsley side actually went on to lose 2-1.

The teams Cardiff City and Swansea City will have to beat to get promoted next season

One replied: "Love it that your biggest achievement so far is scoring a consolation against Cardiff that wasn’t even for Swansea", while another said: "You literally scored a consolation".

Given the incredible amount of passion both sets of fans have for their respective sides, you suspect this could just be a taste of what's to come next season.
