Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie, a bum tattoo and the £1,800 promise he just kept

Oli McBurnie is not just a great striker, he's also a man of his word.

After it emerged that Swansea City fan Ryan Pridmore had been forced to tattoo the Scotsman's name on his backside as part of a lost bet, McBurnie saw the hilarious incident as a chance to do something good.

At the time, he tweeted: "I'll pay for tattoo, and I'll match whatever it raises for a charity of your choice if people wanna donate x."

Ryan eventually went on to raise £1,800 for Armed Forces charity SA1UTE, which on the Go Fund Me page says it will be aiming to purchase or lease a piece of land "where veterans or locals suffering mental health problems can get away. Camping, fishing, chats around a campfire etc."

"In the mean time we are available to help local causes with funds and support if necessary."

After matching the £1,800 raised with his own donation, McBurnie left the following message: "Great cause and I’m a man of my word, great work Ryan."

The whole episode came about when Ryan bet his friend the Scot would not score more than 20 league goals for the season last term, pledging to get the player's name tattooed on his backside if he was proved wrong.

Explaining the bet, he said: "Let's be clear, this wasn't a slight on McBurnie, I just didn't think we'd create the chances for him to get 20 goals, but he went on an Alan Shearer like run and I was there to witness his 20th goal of the season and it all kicked off.

"Everyone tagged McBurnie in tweets, and fair play to him, being the legend he is, he said if I wanted to raise money for charity, he said he would match the money I raised."

Ryan stuck to his words and had "Oli McBurnie is class... pass it on" tattooed on his bum earlier this month.

As Ryan says himself, "I may be an idiot, but one thing I am is a man of my word".

That's one thing the two men have in common then.
