Swansea City set to win race for Chelsea defender linked with Bristol City and Nottingham Forest

Swansea City look set to win the race for Marc Guehi.

BBC report that the Chelsea defender is expected to complete a loan move to the Liberty Stadium ahead of Sunday's South Wales derby with Cardiff City.

Bristol City had previously been linked with the 19-year-old along with Nottingham Forest and Southampton.

Yet the Robins' interest always appeared a little unlikely - City have good depth to their defence and are prioritising strengthening their attack in this transfer window.

Guehi's move to Swansea sees him link up with manager Steve Cooper, who was manager when the defender played for England under-17s.

His signing his the latest boost for Swansea, who also beat Bristol City and Leeds United to Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster earlier this week.

Like Guehi, Brewster played under Cooper in England's youth set-up as they won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.
