Swansea City set to complete move for Man City starlet Joel Latibeaudiere

Manchester City starlet Joel Latibeaudiere is set to complete a free transfer to Swansea City.

WalesOnline understands that a deal to take the centre-back to the Liberty Stadium is almost done, and could well completed within the next 24 hours.

The 20-year old, who was loaned out to FC Twente last season, worked with Steve Cooper when they were part of the England under-17s set-up together.

It is understood that the player is enthusiastic about a possible reunion with his former boss.

Cooper himself has kept coy on any possible incomings and, when asked specifically about the youngster replied: " Until anything is done, I don’t want to talk about it. If something is done, l will talk about it."

Nevertheless, it's understood that the club are increasingly confident of getting the deal over the line.

The player's good working rapport with Cooper is believed to have played a key role in negotiations, placing the Swans ahead of several other Championship sides, including Reading and Bournemouth, who were also heavily linked.

Latibeaudiere had one year remaining on his deal at Manchester City, who appear to be willing to let him leave for nothing, although previous indications have suggested there could be a sell-on clause in the deal.

The arrival of another centre-back will understandably spark questions over the future of star player Joe Rodon, who has been the subject of interest from Tottenham and West Ham United.

However, it's understood that Latibeaudiere's arrival has little bearing on the Wales international's future, with Cooper keen on strengthening his central defensive options regardless of Rodon's future.

The club are also believed to be among the front-runners for Wales and Liverpool winger Harry Wilson, who has also come on the radar of rivals Cardiff City.
