Swansea City set to appoint Steve Cooper as new manager

Steve Cooper is set to become Swansea City’s new manager.

The Pontypridd-born boss has held lengthy talks with the top brass at the Liberty Stadium in recent days.

The final details are still being thrashed out, although he is now poised to become Graham Potter’s successor at SA1.

It’s understood he could be appointed this week and officially unveiled at the club’s Fairwood training base next week.

Cameron Toshack, Gus Poyet and Michael Appleton were among those under consideration, but it’s understood the decision makers at Swansea opted for Cooper - currently coach of England’s Under-17s - due to his impressive record with youth players.

Reports have suggested Cooper will bring in Mike Marsh as an assistant.
