Swansea City seal signing of Morgan Whittaker from Derby County as Paul Arriola deal edges closer

Swansea City have completed the signing of Morgan Whittaker from Derby County.

The versatile forward - who can play as a winger and a striker - has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Swans on transfer deadline day after undergoing a medical at the club's Fairwood training base on Monday afternoon.

Whittaker joins Ben Hamer, Conor Hourihane and Jordan Morris in making the move to the Liberty Stadium this month.

Meanwhile, Steve Cooper's side are also expected to complete the loan signing of Paul Arriola from DC United.

The Swans have agreed terms with the Major League Soccer side over a swoop for the 25-year-old.

He is well know by Swansea's ownership group, and, fresh from scoring twice for the United States of America in a 7-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago, the versatile American is poised to join the Swans for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Swansea have also tracked Kieron Freeman on deadline day.

The Wales international signed a short-term contract with Swindon Town earlier this month, although the Swans have not made an official swoop for the 28-year-old.

The Swans are not expecting to lose any players in the final stages of transfer deadline day.
