Swansea City's transfer stance on former Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala revealed

Daniel Ayala is not on Swansea City's radar, WalesOnline understands.

The defender was released by Middlesbrough earlier this summer and is on the hunt for a new club.

With Mike van der Hoorn and Ben Wilmot both leaving in recent weeks, Swansea are keen to bolster their centre-back options.

It's been widely reported that former Spain Under-21 international Ayala was on Steve Cooper's wish list.

But it's understood they have not held talks with Ayala over a potential switch to the Liberty Stadium, nor do they expect to do so in the near future.

The Spaniard has featured nearer to the top end of the scale when it comes to wages earned during the course of his Championship career, and his income would certainly be an issue for the Swans who are aiming to reduce costs.

Ayala made 25 Championship appearances for Boro last term, scoring two goals.

He has also played for Liverpool, Hull City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Norwich City.
