Swansea City's American owners watch Charlton win as Steve Cooper discusses relationship with duo

Swansea City's American owners were in attendance to watch Steve Cooper's men beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 at The Valley.

Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan regularly attended matches during the Swans' Premier League years but had not seen Cooper's side live before their stunning triumph over the Addicks.

The duo were in the English capital as goals from Andre Ayew and Yan Dhanda saw Swansea come from behind to beat Lee Bowyer's men, with victory seeing Cooper's troops go back to the top of the Championship.

And the Swansea head coach revealed he speaks to Levien and Kaplan regularly, although he only met the pair for the second time at Charlton, with his previous meeting coming back in the summer.

"I speak to them regularly and I've known for a while that they were coming over," he said.

"I met them earlier, but they obviously didn't want to interfere too much with it being a matchday.

"Hopefully they were pleased with the result and the performance. It wasn't a great start but we're very much together at the moment.

"It was a brilliant following again, amazing support, and noisy aswell. Them and us go back to Swansea happy with our work."

And when asked if he'll meet the pair again during their current visit to the United Kingdom, Cooper responded: "I'm not sure about this time, obviously there's other parts of the club they'll want to meet and with a game coming so quick they're more than happy to let us get on with the football.

"But I speak to them regularly, at least once a week. Obviously the main port of call is Trevor (Birch) who is running the club over here. We're all joined up with open communication and they're allowing me and Trevor to get on with the football which is the nice bit."

Victory against Charlton saw Swansea move a point clear of Leeds United at the summit of the second tier while it also ended a run of four matches without a win in all competitions.
