Swansea City reveal transfer stance on Brighton and Hove Albion striker Viktor Gyokeres

Swansea City are interested in taking Brighton and Hove Albion striker Viktor Gyokeres on a season-long loan.

WalesOnline understands he's one of several names currently being looked at by the club, and they are yet to firm up their interest with a concrete bid.

Gyokeres, a Swedish international, spent last season on loan at German second division side St Pauli, where he netted seven goals in 26 games.

St Pauli's sporting director Andreas Bornemann recently admitted that he'd like to take the forward back to Hamburg this summer, and even claimed he had been in contact with Brighton to explore a move.

He told local outlet, MOPO : “If there is any sign, I will take my bike to Brighton and pick him up if necessary, that is not the issue at all.”

However, it seems Swansea are ready to rival any such interest, and Graham Potter, who left the Swans to take the Albion hot-seat last summer, may well see a stint in SA1 as being beneficial to the 22-year old's development.

An impressive summer of recruitment has so far seen the Swans pick up five signings, including returns for popular duo Freddie Woodman and Marc Guehi.

Further additions have not yet been ruled out, but it's understood that the club would likely have to ensure bodies are out the door first.

Matt Grimes has been the most high-profile name linked with an exit, but there is no evidence that Watford have yet shored up any interest with a concrete bid.

However, one departure that does look set to be confirmed within the next 24 hours is Bersant Celina, who is closing in on a move to French side Dijon.
