Swansea City offer Graham Potter transfer assurances as part of bumper new deal in bid to fend off Brighton interest

Swansea City have offered Graham Potter a new and improved contract in a bid to ward off interest from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Talks between Potter and the club have been ongoing this week, with the Englishman understood to be seeking assurances about the club's long-term future and transfer policy.

WalesOnline understands the club's hierarchy, in their determination to keep their manager, have agreed to address some of those assurances as part of this new and improved offer, although the extent of that agreement isn't yet clear.

The new deal on the table is thought to be long term though and will include a more attractive financial package.

Potter currently has two years left on his current contract, and seemingly remains the number one choice to replace sacked boss Chris Hughton at Brighton and Hove Albion. You can follow updates on that here.

Reports had suggested that the Seagulls had grown increasingly frustrated in their chase for Potter, with Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder mentioned as a possible alternative.

However, those suggestions have been played down by sources close to the current Blades boss.

Brighton are yet to come in with a new approach, having seen their previous advances knocked back, but Swansea are hopeful they can persuade Potter to stay at the Liberty Stadium. Why Swansea City boss Graham Potter was at Portsmouth v Sunderland amid Brighton interest
