Swansea City mulling over move for French 21-goal hotshot linked with Leicester City

Swansea City are reportedly weighing up a move for OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry.

According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year old has also attracted interest from Germany and Turkey in recent months, after a stunning season in Belgium.

The striker netted 21 goals in 31 games for Leuven this term, and has emerged as a key player for the club since arriving from Tubize in 2019 for £450,000.

HIs record of 41 goals in 71 games means his value is likely to be a lot more should any club want to prise him away this summer.

That would perhaps cast doubt on Swansea's ability to get a deal done, with promotion to the Premier League likely to be essential to any hopes of bringing him to the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea are also interested in midfielder Liam Walsh following his release from Bristol City, but their transfer targets are likely to finalised once their play-off fate is confirmed.

Should they reach the top flight, the club could well step up their interest in Henry.

After links with Besiktas emerged earlier in the year, the player himself admitted he would be more interested in a move to the Premier League, and even name-dropped Leuven's sister club Leicester City as a possible preferred destination.

“Everyone knows Besiktas, which is a great club that plays in European cups every year,” he told Turkish outlet Hurriyet.

“Other leagues are more prioritised for me. Germany, England, Italy or Spain make me dream more.

“But everybody is a big club that plays in European cups every year. We will see what will happen.

“Leuven is Leicester City’s sister team, and therefore the transition to the Premier League is easier for me. England attracts me.”
