Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Brentford in battle for £2m Swiss striker - reports

Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Brentford are reportedly tracking Hibernian striker Florian Kamberi.

Our sister title the Daily Record state that the three Championship clubs are tracking the 24-year-old, with the Bees said to be the most interested.

The trio of sides all have question marks over in their striking departments this summer, with Swansea's Oli McBurnie and Brentford's Neal Maupay targets for Sheffield United, while Boro's Britt Assombalonga is being linked with Cardiff City and Celtic .

Kamberi scored 12 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions last term.

The former Grasshoppers striker is rated at £2million, pricing League One admirers Portsmouth out the race, but at that valuation Swansea may also bow out of the running.

Chairman Trevor Birch revealed last week that the club would be looking at free transfers and loan deals this summer as the basis of their recruitment plans.

"It would be loans and frees, that's the market we're looking at," he said .

"If it's a small transfer fee then possibly, but that's where we are. That's our current financial position."

That situation could change if the Blades up the ante for McBurnie, but Birch assured supporters that they were not in a rush to sell their prized assets.

"We will try to keep hold of key players, those players who we all know are going to be key," added the chairman.

"That's something I am going to try to achieve. There may be a knockout offer that the club can't refuse - that's the same for any club - but we haven't had that yet.

"Hopefully we can keep what we have intact and then build in the one or two areas where we need to strengthen.

"We don't need to sell (others) if we can't move them (high earners) on, but I am extremely hopeful that we can do that because it would make life a lot easier."
