Swansea City make approach for Liverpool striker linked with Bristol City and Leeds United

Swansea City have reportedly made an approach for Rhian Brewster.

The Athletic report that the Swans have made a formal offer to take the Liverpool striker on loan for the second half of the season.

Brewster has previously been linked with a move to Bristol City, having found first-team football hard to come by at Anfield so far this season.

The Robins are understood to have made some enquiries about Brewster, but this has yet to transform into an official approach.

Brewster is in high demand in January, with Jurgen Klopp having changed his mind over sending the youngster out on loan.

Klopp was against the idea of the 19-year-old leaving Anfield in the summer, but has now decided that the striker's development would be best served by regular football.

Brewster has made just two appearances for the Reds this season, both of which were in the EFL Cup.

Leeds United and Preston North End have also been linked with the player - although Leeds' interest depends on the future of Eddie Nketiah.

Swansea believe they hold the edge in the race for Brewster thanks to his previous links with manager Steve Cooper.

Cooper managed Brewster for England under-17s in the 2017 under-17s World Cup, which saw the striker clinch the golden boot as England won the tournament.

A guarantee of first-team football - something that Liverpool stipulate in their loan agreements - could also put them in good stead.
