Swansea City line up loan move for Liverpool defender Rhys Williams as ex-Celtic midfielder linked

Swansea City are lining up a loan move for Liverpool defender Rhys Williams.

The Swans have been keen to add to their defensive options following Marc Guehi's departure in the summer while Connor Roberts is expected to join Burnley on transfer deadline day.

And the Swans are hopeful of signing Williams on a season-long loan deal from Jurgen Klopp's side.

The 20-year-old made 19 appearances for the Reds in all competitions last term.

It comes amid links to a move for ex-Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham.

The 25-year-old was released by the Scottish giants earlier this summer, despite having another year left to run on his contract at the club.

And the Swans are interested in a deadline day move for the France Under-21 international, who worked under current sporting director Mark Allen at Manchester City.

Russell Martin has been eager to add more creativity to his ranks since taking charge of the club on the opening day of August.

Ntcham has played in all areas across midfield while he can also operate in a more advanced role - similar to that of Jamie Paterson and Yan Dhanda.

The Frenchman joined Celtic from Man City in 2017 via a loan stint with Genoa before securing a loan switch to Marseille in January this year. He made four appearances for the French club.

The transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday.
