Swansea City join Bristol City and Norwich City in race for £4m Chelsea attacker

Swansea City have joined the race for Kasey Palmer.

The Chelsea attacking midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Bristol City, where he became a hit with the Robins fans.

City boss Lee Johnson has said he wants to re-sign the player, who has dropped lots of teasing hints about his future on social media over the summer.

Yet the 22-year-old has admirers elsewhere and a move to bring Palmer back to Ashton Gate is said to have stalled, with news breaking last week that newly-promoted Premier League side Norwich City were also keen to sign him.

Chelsea are said to be demanding a £4m fee for the player.

The Sun have now reported today that Swansea are keen on a loan for the player.

Swans boss Steve Cooper is said to be hopeful of bringing both Palmer and Blues teammate Jake Clarke-Salter to the Liberty Stadium.

Leeds United were keen on Clarke-Salter but fear that this deal will stall due to their poor relationship with Frank Lampard at Derby County last season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Palmer does leave Stamford Bridge at all this summer, with it previously being reported that Lampard was keen to have a look at him - something that Johnson hinted at earlier in pre-season.

He said: "It's a difficult situation. There's a new manager gone in there and a manager who has worked with Kasey and seen him flourish through the youth teams.

"The best situation for Kasey Palmer is he fights his way into Chelsea's side.

"We've made the signing of Szmodics which is a similar position in that particular formation [4-2-3-1] and brings different qualities.

"But never say never because you never know what is going to happen with the rest of the squad - what might move in, and what might move out.

"At this moment in time I wouldn't say anything is pending on Kasey Palmer for that reason, really."
