Swansea City have held talks with Fabio Borini over a potential return to the Liberty Stadium.
The Italian enjoyed a hugely successful loan stint with the club in 2011 and played a key part in helping Brendan Rodgers' men gain promotion into the Premier League.
He is currently a free agent and is available to join the Swans on a permanent basis, nine years after he left south Wales.
And, as first reported by The Athletic, WalesOnline understands Swansea have held discussions with the 29-year-old.
His versatility would no doubt he a huge plus to Steve Cooper who is keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of what promises to be a gruelling Championship schedule.
Given that he is a free agent, Borini could join the Swans after Friday's 5pm transfer deadline.
It means Swansea are keen to thrash out other deals first before fully focusing on a potential transfer for former player Borini.
The attacker netted six goals in 12 appearances for the Swans during his loan spell from Chelsea in the latter half of the 2010/11 campaign.
After a loan stint with Roma, Borini joined Liverpool on a permanent basis in 2012, re-uniting himself with Rodgers at Anfield.
He has since had spells with Sunderland, AC Milan and most recently Hellas Verona.
