Swansea City in talks to sign striker Jordan Morris plus Max Watters latest as Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane linked

Swansea City are in talks to sign Jordan Morris on loan from Seattle Sounders.

Steve Cooper has been keen to bolster his forward options in the January transfer window in a bid to strengthen his side's promotion push.

And - as first reported by the Telegraph - WalesOnline understands they are hopeful of bringing American Morris to the Liberty Stadium until the end of the campaign.

The 26-year-old - who can play as a No.9 or as a winger - has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances for the United States of America.

He has regularly been touted with a move to Germany after impressing on trial with Werder Bremen in 2016, although Morris opted to stay in his homeland.

Morris has netted 42 goals in his 129 appearances for MLS outfit Seattle Sounders.

Given their proposed swoop for Morris, interest in Crawley Town's Max Watters appears to have cooled significantly.

The Swans were keen to sign the League Two forward, although John Yems' side wanted a seven-figure sum for the 21-year-old, with Swansea unwilling to meet their asking price.

It's been suggested that local rivals Cardiff City are now set to swoop for Watters this month.

Meanwhile, Football Insider report that the Swans are lining up a move for Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane.

Dean Smith's side have considered the option of allowing the Republic of Ireland international to depart Villa Park on a temporary basis this month.

And it's suggested that Swansea are keen to bring the 29-year-old to the Liberty Stadium on loan for the remainder of the season.

Swansea have already seen Viktor Gyokeres, Morgan Gibbs-White and Kasey Palmer depart this month.

It means they have three free loan slots available for a matchday squad given that Freddie Woodman and Marc Guehi are the only men currently in on loan.

The club are poised to make goalkeeper Ben Hamer their first signing of the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old is expected to join from Championship rivals Huddersfield Town on a free transfer.
