Swansea City in pole position to sign Wigan Athletic's Jamal Lowe amid Millwall and Preston interest

Swansea City are the front runners to sign Wigan Athletic's Jamal Lowe, WalesOnline understands.

The Swans submitted a bid for the winger last week, with Championship rivals Millwall and Preston also said to be interested in the 26-year-old.

Steve Cooper's men agreed personal terms with Lowe over a potential transfer to the Liberty Stadium, with reports elsewhere suggesting the Lions and the Lilywhites did the same.

However, it's understood Swansea are now in pole position to sign the attacker this summer.

Lowe joined Wigan from Portsmouth last summer and was a key figure under Paul Cook at the DW Stadium last term.

The winger - who can also play as a striker - netted six goals in his 46 Championship appearances for the Latics during the course of the 2019/20 season.

Swansea have already added Korey Smith, Freddie Woodman and Morgan Gibbs-White to their ranks this summer.

They are expected to re-sign Marc Guehi on loan from Chelsea while experienced defender Kyle Naughton has also signed a new contract ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
