Swansea City hope to sign two Chelsea youngsters with Leeds United plans for one of them dashed - reports

Swansea City are hopeful of signing England under-21 skipper Jake Clarke-Salter after Chelsea confirmed they are ready to loan him out this season, according to reports.

New Swans boss Steve Cooper knows centre-back Clarke-Salter from his time as England under-17 manager and that could help sway the Premier League outfit sending their player to south Wales.

The Sun say Chelsea could also send striker Kasey Palmer on a loan deal to Swansea, while Cooper is also being linked to 21-year-old Lucas Pos, who has just left Swiss side Lausanne.

Leeds United were initially hopeful of landing highly-rated Clarke-Salter.

But after the appointment of Derby County boss Frank Lampard into the Stamford Bridge hot-seat, they feared the former England midfielder would reject any move to Elland Road.

Lampard did not enjoy the best rapport with Leeds last season in the Championship after one of Marcelo Bielsa’s staff members was caught spying on a Derby training session before their league clash.

Clarke-Salter has come through the youth academy at Stamford Bridge, making his debut for Chelsea in 2016.

His first loan spell away from the club was with Bristol Rovers.

He spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie before returning to captain the Under-21s side in the Under-21s European Championships.

If the Swans were able to land Clarke-Salter, it is speculated it could see Mike van der Hoorn leave the Liberty Stadium.
