Swans eyeing Fraser
Swansea are reportedly eyeing a move for Ipswich Town midfielder Scott Fraser.
According to the Daily Record, Russell Martin is a big fan of the Scotsman, having worked with him during his time at MK Dons.
The 26-year-old only made the move to Portman Road last summer, but has struggled for game under new boss Kieran McKenna.
Reports in Scotland first linked him with a move to South Wales back in December and it appears he could still be on the radar heading into the final week of the January window.
Fraser hasn't appeared under the new Ipswich boss, with his last inclusion in a match-day squad coming as an unused substitute against Wycombe.
Fraser enjoyed the best season of his career under Martin, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.
Martin opens up on O'Riley's Celtic move
Swans boss Russell Martin admits he spoke to midfielder Matt O'Riley shortly before the player's move to Celtic, and says the financial realities involved meant a move to SA1 was never really on the cards.
The Swans were keen admirers of the 21-year-old for much of the January window, but saw their efforts ultimately sabotaged by an inability to raise the funds needed to trigger the player's release clause at MK, believed to be around £1.5m
Celtic subsequently stole a march and a move to Parkhead was completed last week, much to the disappointment of Martin.
Martin told the Scottish Sun : “There were a lot of Championship clubs wanting him this time. But Matty sees the bigger picture. He didn’t want to just go anywhere for the sake of going.
“He wanted to play in a team that dominates the ball, where he can flourish and excel, so I don’t think he’d have jumped in this window for any team.
“When I found out about Celtic I spoke to him and he was really keen because of the size of the club and the way they play.
“He was really impressed with the new manager too. He takes all of that into account. We were never in the battle to sign him. I’d have loved to get him, but it wasn’t an option for us financially.”
Swans miss golden chance to beat Cardiff
Swansea's under-23s were pinned back by south Wales rivals Cardiff City this afternoon,.
Jaden Forrester put the Swans in front with a well-taken penalty inside the opening 10 minutes, before Keenan Patten headed home an equaliser midway inside the second half.
Forrester was then handed a golden opportunity to give his side the lead once more, when the Swans were awarded a penalty just a few minutes later.
However, his second spot kick was stopped by George Ratcliffe, and Cardiff held out for a point.
