Swansea City headlines as Man City reveal hand on James McAtee transfer and Newcastle United line up move for former Swans flop

Your round-up of all the latest Swansea City headlines for Tuesday, November 30.

City reluctant to let go of McAtee

Manchester City are growing increasingly reluctant to sanction a deal for highly-rated youngster James McAtee, despite interest from Swansea.

WalesOnline understands the Swans are among a dozen clubs to have expressed an interest in a January loan move for the 19-year-old, who recently made his league debut off the bench in the 3-0 win over Everton.

However, the Premier League giants are have so far expressed little interest in sanctioning an exit, believing that time around the first team could well be more beneficial to his development.

A move could yet happen, with McAtee seen as potentially being a good fit for the Swans, but sources have so far played down the chances of him leaving the Etihad, particularly in light of his recent breakthrough into the first team picture.

“We have exceptional players in the academy," Pep Guardiola said recently when asked about the breakthrough of McAtee and others.

"I am not shy to use them. If they are good, they are going to get an opportunity."

Baggies eye Paterson

Swans hotshot Jamie Paterson is reportedly attracting interest from West Bromwich Albion.

According to the Daily Mail, the Baggies are one of several clubs monitoring the 29-year-old, who has racked up eight goals and four assists for the Swans so far this season.

The forward only signed a one-year deal at the Swansea.com Stadium after arriving on a free transfer from Bristol City in the summer, and his suitors may well be about to test Swansea's resolve to keep him in south Wales. However, it's understood Paterson is likely to trigger the appearance-based clause in his contract to extend his stay with the Swans beyond this term.

Meanwhile, the same report claims Paterson is also on the radar for Scotland ahead of their World Cup qualifying play-off with Ukraine in March.

Newcastle and Milan battle for Sanches

Newcastle United are reportedly set to rival Milan for Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches this January.

The Magpies look set to splash the cash when the transfer window reopens and, according to calciomercato, they are ready to offer the Euro 2016 winner a mega-money deal.

Milan are believed to be keen on the former Swans man as a potential replacement for Franck Kessie, whose contract is up at the end of the season.

Lille are reportedly set to demand €35m for the 24-year-old.

Manning eyeing more final third heroics

Ryan Manning says eyeing up further success in the final third for Swansea City this season, after opening his goal scoring account against Reading.

The Irishman produced a fine right-footed volley to beat goalkeeper Luke Southwood on what was his 40th appearance for the Swans.

The goal followed on from a lovely assist for Olivier Ntcham against Barnsley in his side's previous outing, which was his fourth of the current campaign.

It's an impressive tally for a centre-back, and is further indication of the positive brand of football implemented by boss Russell Martin.

“I gave it a go and sometimes it goes into row z, sometimes it goes into the top corner,” Manning said.

“It would have been even better had we gone on to win, but it wasn’t to be and we have to learn the lessons from that.

“I enjoy the chance to get on the ball, I play to try to create in the left wing-back position, where I’m trying to produce a final ball for a team-mate.

“So, I’m buzzing to have got an assist and goal in the last two games, and I hope I can continue to build on that and give more.”
