Swansea City headlines as Chelsea legend eyes link-up with ex-Swans boss and Fulham to be without key midfielder

Your Swansea City headlines for Tuesday, December 28.

Chelsea legend eyes link-up with ex-Swans boss

John Terry is keen to work with former Swansea boss Paul Clement when he lands his first managerial role, according to The Athletic.

The Chelsea legend has been linked with numerous jobs since retiring from professional football in 2018.

Terry, 41, was Dean Smith's assistant at Aston Villa before leaving the Midlands club earlier this year.

And it's reported that the former defender - who won 78 caps for England - is eager to manage in his homeland.

Clement - who was an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge during Terry's time at the club - has been out of work since being sacked by Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge in February.

It's also stated that Terry would be keen to link-up with fellow former Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole in a coaching capacity in the future.

Russell Martin's men are currently scheduled to host the Cottagers at the Swansea.com Stadium on Monday, January 3 having seen their matches against Queens Park Rangers, Millwall and Luton Town postponed.

And the visitors are set to be without midfielder Seri when they take on Swansea in south Wales.

The Elephants have been scheduled to prepare for the tournament with a training camp in Saudi Arabia from December 27.

The 2021 AFCON gets underway in Cameroon on Sunday, January 9 and runs through until Sunday, February 6.

Swansea will not lose any players to the tournament.

More Championship games postponed

Several Championship matches scheduled to take place across the final days of 2021 have been postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks.

Sheffield United are unable to take on Hull City due to a spread of the virus within the Tigers' camp while Reading also had to postpone their clash with promotion hopefuls Fulham.

With several members in Swansea's squad currently isolating, a call on their contest with Fulham on Monday, January 3 will be made late this week.

Birmingham City v Peterborough United has also been postponed while West Brom's contest with Preston North End on Thursday has already been called off.
