Swansea City finalise shortlist in manager search as former Nuremberg boss Michael Köllner flies in for further talks

Swansea City are edging closer to appointing a new manager.

The club's top brass have completed their shortlist of potential candidates, and are understood to have already spoken to those of interest.

A host of names have been linked with the Liberty Stadium hot seat since Graham Potter's move to Brighton and Hove Albion , but that list of potential options has now been narrowed.

Former Nuremberg boss could well be one of the names on that shortlist.

Sources close to the German claim to have held further talks with the Swans over the weekend, and have described their meeting as "very interesting".

Club insiders have previously played down any interest in Köllner, but the 49-year old's representatives are adamant that he remains in the running.

Köllner, who's been out of work since being sacked by Nuremberg in February, is understood to have told sources in Germany that he is keen on making the move to South Wales, having previously held talks to take over at Scottish champions Celtic.

West Brom assistant Michael Appleton is another potential candidate believed to have spoken to the club, although Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon remains the heavy favourite with the bookies, who've also placed 's name in the frame.
