Swansea City fans will love what Sam Surridge said about his new club as Bournemouth man reveals what he'll bring

Sam Surridge has revealed he turned down offers from elsewhere to join Swansea City this summer.

The 21-year-old Bournemouth striker will spend the duration of the 2019/20 campaign with the Swans in a bid to gain experience at Championship level.

And Surridge - who netted 12 times in 20 appearances during his loan stint with Oldham last term - has revealed Swansea's style of play was a big influence in his decision to make the move to South Wales.

When asked if he had offers from elsewhere, Surridge said: "Yeah but I think the main one was Swansea.

"They had a massive interest in me. There were other clubs but I think Swansea stood out because of the way they play.

"The manager spoke to me about the way he wants the team to play so that was massive for me. I spoke to the manager and he wants me to come in and play.

"I've had conversations with him, I've still got to have another chat with him to see what I want to get out of this loan and what he wants me to do and how he wants me to play. I've been training well and I'm feeling sharp."

After failing to secure another loan move away from the Vitality Stadium in January after his spell with Oldham, Surridge remained at Bournemouth and made two appearances for the Cherries' first team in the latter half of the 2018/19 season.

And Surridge has revealed Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe wants to see him prove his worth in the second tier with Swansea.

"He said I need to prove myself at this level so I can go back and have the confidence to do it in the Premier League," added the forward.

"I've still got a few more years there and that's where I want to end up but here is a massive step for me and I'm ready to take it."

Surridge - along with Swansea's other summer recruits - are all in contention to feature in the Championship clash with Derby County at Pride Park.

And when asked what fans can expect from him, the frontman responded: "I love to work hard and score goals. They're the two main things.

"I haven't got a target goals-wise, I just want to score as many goals as I can and see what I can do."
