Swansea City dealt major injury blow ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Swansea City boss Graham Potter has been handed a major injury blow ahead of Saturday's trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.

First-choice goalkeeper Erwin Mulder has broken his finger during the international break, with Potter revealing the 30-year-old will miss the rest of the season with the injury.

The news means Swedish international Kristoffer Nordfeldt will be between the sticks against Forest with Under-23s keeper Steven Benda, who is yet to make his professional debut, on the bench.

"We've had a problem with Erwin in the week," Potter told WalesOnline.

Why Tyrone Mings thinks he was '100 percent' right to snub Nottingham Forest for Aston Villa

"He's broken a finger so he's probably going to be (out) the rest of the season at this stage. That's a bit of a blow for us.

"We've got Kris and Steven. They're the two that we have for the foreseeable future. It's unfortunate for Erwin but that's life sometimes.

"He's (Benda) been really good for the Under-23s and he's trained with us everyday.

"We know his qualities so it's good for him to be able to get that experience. Of course we'd like Erwin as well but it's not to be. So it'll be just Kris and Steven."
