Swansea City confirm capture of Rhian Brewster after beating Leeds United to Liverpool striker

Swansea City have confirmed the signing of Rhian Brewster from Liverpool after beating Leeds United and a host of other clubs to the highly-rated forward.

The 19-year-old, who made his most recent appearance in the Reds' FA Cup victory over Everton on Sunday, attracted a wealth of interest from across the Championship after his services became available.

Leeds were among the clubs keen on bringing Brewster in during the January transfer window, following Eddie Nketiah's return to Arsenal from Elland Road, but Swansea were regarded as the favourites for a deal.

The forward reunites with Swansea head coach Steve Cooper, who he played under during England U17's World Cup success in 2017 - where Brewster won the Golden Boot with eight goals.

The teenager is available to make his debut in Swansea's meteoric clash with Cardiff City on Sunday and will provide a boost to the club's push for a playoff spot.

Swansea currently sit sixth in the table, two points behind third-placed Brentford, but are just two points ahead of tenth-placed Preston in a fierce battle for a top-six finish.
