Swansea City boss Steve Cooper reacts to Bristol City star Benik Afobe's injury

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper says Bristol City have adequate replacements to cover the loss of Benik Afobe.

The Robins were handed a blow this week when Afobe ruptured his ACL in training, effectively ruling him out of action for the rest of the season.

With Swansea playing the Robins this weekend, Cooper says he will await official confirmation of the injury, but that his side cannot be complacent about it.

"He’s a well-known player," Cooper told Wales Online.

"I’m not too sure if it’s official but I have heard that rumour.

"You prepare for certain strengths in other teams but whoever we come up against, they have a big strong squad so it doesn’t really matter."

Cooper and Robins boss Lee Johnson were on a leadership course together, but this is the first time the duo will have met as managers.

The Swans boss is looking forward to it but says his side are focusing on their own game.

He said: "I think they’re a strong team that can win a lot of games in the league.

"I like Lee a lot, he’s been a manager a long time and he’s still a young coach. I remember him starting out at Oldham and he’s gone from strength to strength.

"They’ve invested well and they’ve got good players, but the focus is just on ourselves.

"We can’t worry too much about others. We want to get our own house in order. I hear we’ve got a good following going as well so it’s going to be important.

"We’re clear about what we want to do and hopefully we can deliver."
