Swansea City boss gives transfer update amid links to Chelsea duo and offers the latest on Oli McBurnie after Sheffield United bid

Steve Cooper has revealed Swansea City are 'not that far away' from bringing in some new recruits this summer.

The Swans have already been linked with youngsters Jake Clarke-Salter and Kasey Palmer from Chelsea, with boss Cooper confirming he is looking at potential loan options from clubs higher up the footballing food chain.

Jake Bidwell remains the Swans' only signing of the window so far and, with the club expected to have little cash to play with once again, the loan market is likely to be the main source of potential incomings.

Speaking after their impressive 3-1 win over Exeter City on Saturday, Cooper hinted that potential targets have already been identified.

"I'd like to think we're not that far away from one or two coming," he said. "We've talked quite publicly about maximising the loan market.

"The big guns are out of Europe at the moment, playing tours, so when they return then hopefully we can see one or two faces come in and add to the good things that are going on.

"It's about it happening rather than talking about when.

"Of course, you'd like it earlier rather than later, but if we have to wait a little while then we'll do that."

Meanwhile, Cooper insists says there has been no fresh approach for striker Oli McBurnie.

The Scottish international has been the subject of interest from Premier League newcomers Sheffield United this summer, with the Blades already having a £15m bid turned down.

McBurnie is believed to be focusing on preparing for the new season as a Swansea player and played 75 minutes of the pre-season win in Devon.

Cooper is staying relaxed on the forward's future, saying: "Nothing's changed.

"He's a very good character, a very good player and he's a good person to be around on a daily basis. I'm really enjoying working with him. Everybody at the football club would say that.

"But there's no news, aside from the fact that he needs to recover and get ready for Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.

"As far as I know there's not been any fresh approach."
