Swansea City, Birmingham City and West Brom misfit Jefferson Montero has finally found another club

The agent of former Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero has confirmed that his client has found a new club.

The Ecuadorian has been without a team since his spell with Birmingham City came to an end in June.

He played his final game for the Blues in the FA Cup defeat to Leicester City on March 4 and has not been seen since.

It is clear from his social media activity that he remained in the UK to work on his fitness and find a new club.

And it appears that has now happened, with a two-year contract with Mexican side Querétaro on the verge of being formalised.

His agent, the former player Oswaldo Minda, revealed on Twitter that Montero would pen a deal with the Liga MX outfit on Monday.

It will be the second time that Montero has plied his trade in Mexico, having featured for Monarcas Morelia before signing for Swansea in the summer of 2014.

Montero has genuine claims of being one of Swansea's most frustrating players of all time, with his brilliantly inconsistent performances garnering praise and criticism in almost equal measure.

But the balance increasingly tipped towards the latter, and loans to Getafe, West Brom and Birmingham brought with them more injuries and bouts of poor form. Indeed his painful spell at The Hawthorns saw him feature for just 119 minutes.

It was a far cry from his standout Premier League highlights, terrorising Arsenal's Calum Chambers and Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in almost comical fashion and being linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich after just a year in South Wales.

The 31-year-old will hope that his career can now be kickstarted in Central America after years of unfulfilled potential.
