Swansea City and Leeds United lead race for Liverpool striker previously linked with Bristol City

Swansea City and Leeds United are the front runners to sign Rhian Brewster on loan in January.

That is according to the Times, who report that Liverpool are preparing to send the 19-year-old striker out on loan in January.

There are concerns that Brewster's development could stall after he was restricted to just two EFL Cup appearances so far this season.

Bristol City have previously been linked with the promising starlet, but, if they are interested, they face competition from a number of Championship clubs.

Leeds' interest could well be a boost to the Robins.

The Whites are unlikely to be looking at a striker if they can keep hold of Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah, who has been linked with Bristol City if the Gunners recall him.

Yet there is plenty of interest in Brewster.

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have previously been linked from the Premier League, but Swansea City, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic are all said to be interested in the Championship.

Swans boss Steve Cooper knows Brewster well from his time as England under-17 coach, which could well give them the edge in the chase for the youngster.

Brewster is expected to start Liverpool's EFL Cup quarter-final with Aston Villa later this month, with the Times also reporting that the Reds will involve him in their FA Cup tie with Everton at the start of January.

It is after that when a decision on Brewster's immediate future will be made.
