Swansea City and Birmingham City eyeing move for non-league star - reports

Swansea City are reportedly monitoring promising non-league star Ed Williams.

According to The Mirror , both the Swans and Birmingham City are taking a look at the midfielder, who's currently on the books at National League North side Kidderminster Harriers.

Williams has earned 13 goals and six assists in 36 appearances for Harriers having joined from Gloucester City last summer, and is one of the brightest prospects currently outside the EFL.

The 23-year old, who has two caps for England C, has also been linked with League One Peterborough United, although Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has since taken to Twitter to deny any interest.

Responding to a fan's question of whether there was any truth in the links with a move to London Road, he wrote: "Absolutely none whatsoever. Any agent/club looking to get a bid for a player tend to throw our name to usual sources."

Swansea are keen on getting new recruits in before the start of the new Championship season, having already tied up a deal for Jake Bidwell.

Speaking after the friendly at Crawley Town , boss Steve Cooper said: "We are trying to do some things and I'm pretty sure we will before the start of the season.

"Obviously as the coach, you want it sooner rather than later. But I trust the work that we're doing and when we do get some players over the line and in the training ground you guys will be the first to know.

"We've got such a good spirit with the current group, and you've got to be careful not to spoil that.

"On the flip side, for us there's some obvious areas where we feel we can strengthen and add to what we've already got. There is no exact number (of signings)."
