Swansea have agreed an £8m fee with Chievo for the striker Alberto Paloschi and the Premier League club are hopeful of agreeing personal terms with the 26-year-old.
Swansea have been looking to bolster their forward line throughout the window and believe the Italian has the qualities to help them avoid relegation.
The fee has been agreed and the Welsh club are now talking to the forward’s representatives. Paloschi, who has 29 caps at Under-21 level, has been with Chievo since 2011 and has also played for Milan, Parma and Genoa.
Atalanta are also interested in the 26-year-old, who had his best Serie A season in 2013-14, when he scored 13 goals in 37 games.
