Swansea City 5pm transfer headlines as academy duo depart, signings still wanted and Leeds United swoop rejected

Swansea City's academy duo Josh Thomas and Matthew Blake will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Cardiff Met.

The pair have impressed in the Swans' youth set-up, and coaches at the Liberty Stadium are keen to see the pair get regular game- time at senior level elsewhere.

And on transfer deadline day, it was confirmed that striker Thomas and left-back Blake will finish off the remainder of the 2020/21 season in the Cymru Premier.

Meanwhile, Swansea are still looking to add to their senior squad before Monday's 11pm deadline.

They are set to complete the signing of forward Morgan Whittaker from Championship rivals Derby County.

The 20-year-old has undergone a medical at the club's Fairwood training complex on Monday afternoon with a view to signing a permanent deal with the Swans.

It's understood Steve Cooper wants to bring in an additional number nine given that Whittaker is inexperienced at senior level while also wanting to add cover for Wales international Connor Roberts at right wing-back.

A deal for DC United's Paul Arriola appears unlikely, although a loan move for the 25-year-old could be ratified in the final stages of the winter window.

Arriola scored twice as the United States of America defeated Trinidad and Tobago 7-0 on Sunday night.

Elsewhere, sources have played down talks of a potential swoop for Leeds United's Sam Greenwood.
