Swansea City 2019/20 award winners revealed as Andre Ayew and Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster take top prizes

Andre Ayew has won the Swansea City players' player of the season and supporters' player of the season awards for the 2019/20 campaign.

The Ghana international returned to South Wales last summer following a season-long loan with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.

Ayew excelled in the second tier of English football, scoring 16 goals in the Championship as Steve Cooper's men reached the semi-finals of the play-offs, with the attacker also netting twice in the Carabao Cup.

And his astonishing efforts have been recognised, with Ayew taking the top gongs in the club's annual awards ceremony.

The original awards event – in conjunction with the Executive Fundraising Committee and Supporters Trust - was due to be held in April but had to be cancelled owing to the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier this week, the club invited fans to vote on three specific awards for the 2019/20 season.

The Jack Army were asked to vote online for who they thought should win the goal of the season, supporters' player of the year and best newcomer awards.

Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster took the best newcomer award after a remarkable spell at the club that saw him net 11 goals in 22 appearances.

Club legend Wayne Routledge took the goal of the season prize for his stunning effort in the dramatic 4-1 win over Reading on the final day of the regular season, with the winger adding a second late on as Swansea secured a play-off spot.

And the supporters' players of the season gong was awarded to Ayew, ensuring the 30-year-old took the two major prizes on offer.

Tivonge Rushesha - who made his senior bow in the Carabao Cup against Cambridge United in August 2019 - won the club's Under-23s player of the season award while fellow academy product Jordon Garrick scooped the community champion award.

Joel Cotterill won the academy player of the season award while Suzan Eames - who recently retired following 26 years at the club - won the lifetime achievement award.

Jonathan Wilsher won the Alan Curtis award while Phil Sumbler scooped the Supporters' Trust lifetime achievement prize.
