Swansea boss Steve Cooper on what Chelsea loan star Conor Gallagher bought to his team vs Wigan

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has spoken about the sort of football that he wants Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher to play during his time at the Liberty Stadium.

The 19-year-old spent the first-half of the campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 27 league appearances during his time playing at the Valley.

He was recalled by the Blues and was sent back out on loan to Swansea, where he will spend the rest of the season after impressing during his time at Charlton.

Gallagher made his Swans debut in the 2-1 win over Wigan on Saturday afternoon, and made an instant impression by providing the assist for fellow loanee Rhian Brewster to score the equalising goal.

“We want to score proper goals, and the build up to the first goal was excellent," Cooper said of the goal, in his post-match press conference (via WalesOnline )

"We received it between the lines, the run in behind, the slide-rule pass and the finish."

"That was fantastic, and for the second goal Bersant (Celina) was brilliant off a switch in play, we had the numbers in the box and you need that bit of composure and ruthlessness to put it in the net."

Swansea and Gallagher will be back in action when Cooper's men take on Stoke City in the Championship next week, when the Chelsea youngster will be hoping to continue to impress his new manager.
