Swansea boss denies Rhian Brewster loan 'terms' and explains how club are developing player

Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has denied that he is under any obligation to play loan players as part of their contract terms.

The Championship club signed Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster on loan in January and the teenage hitman has scored three goals in seven appearances for the Swans.

Brewster started on the bench for Swansea, who are without a win in their last five, against Hull City in their last game but came on with 25 minutes to go and found the back of the net in the 4-4 thriller.

"We have a few loan players here, that would not be right for the football club to do that," Cooper said when asked about whether he faces contractual pressures to field his loan players.

Swansea also signed Chelsea's Marc Guehi and Connor Gallagher in January - Guehi has featured in the five winless games in Swansea's defence, with his form coming under scrutiny.

"With the young players, it is up and down," Cooper said.

"They can have a really good game and make a mistake that can cost a goal or miss a chance, and that can be the narrative.

"But my aim is to keep working day in day out with the players and give them the best programme we can possible with the idea of continuing to improve while performing well in games so we can win games. That won't change."
