Sydney star Errol Gulden says his side are looking to sharpen their axe in the run in to the AFL finals after blasting away Port Adelaide.
The Swans overturned an early deficit to score a 97-point win at the SCG on Saturday, kicking nine straight goals in the second quarter and piling on ten more majors in the last.
After a shaky period in which they lost three out of four to fellow top-four aspirants - the Brisbane Lions, Fremantle and Adelaide - second-placed Sydney have won three straight against teams outside the top eight.
Across their last five quarters against St Kilda and Port, the Swans outscored their opponents 33 goals to 12.
"We've had a lot of injuries this year and we haven't really had a consistent kind of run of even three or four games with the same team in," Gulden told AAP.
"It's hard to build that continuity, but I feel like we're kind of getting back now, and rolling and getting some key personnel back the last month and a half.
"Hopefully get Justin McInerny back next week too, which will help and then we've got two more games to really sharpen the axe before finals.
"The results have been pleasing, but even before the results were coming we still felt we were playing good footy. We just weren't dong it for four quarters, so I think to be doing it consistently now for the majority of the game is good."
Sydney coach Dean Cox praised Gulden for continuing to contribute after returning to the ground following an HIA after copping a heavy bump.
"His ability to be able to bounce straight back up, get the test done and do everything he needed to do, and to come back again and play the way he did straight after that," Cox said.
"That's one thing that he always does is, he loves working as hard as he possibly can and playing his role in the team."
Gulden has averaged 38 possessions over the last three matches, after taking a few fixtures to get back to his peak, following a shoulder reconstruction which kept him out for 12 matches.
"I feel good, it probably took me as little bit of time to get my feet back underneath me, but I feel like I'm really nailing my role now consistently throughout the game," Gulden said.
A win over Essendon in Melbourne next Sunday will lock up second spot, though big victories in their last two matches and two defeats for Fremantle could give Sydney a chance of finishing first.
"I don't really think there's a difference between first or second, to be honest. If we can get a home final that's the main thing," Gulden added.
