Swan trapped in frozen Hogganfield Loch rescued by fire crews

A swan had to be rescued by fire crews after becoming trapped in Hogganfield Loch.

The loch, in the north east of Glasgow, has frozen over amid the recent wintry conditions.

Photos shared on the No1Seems2Care community Facebook show the stranded swan and passersby watching on as it was rescued by the emergency services.

A user on the Facebook page also commented a swan found itself in a similar predicament in nearby Springburn Park.

Meanwhile, in the south side of the city, an ice skater made the most of the cool weather, taking to frozen pond in Queen's Park.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to Glasgow Live they had been called to the scene at Hogganfield Loch this afternoon.
