A swan was shot dead spurring on a Metropolitan Police Wildlife crime unit investigation.

Police in Bexley said the bird was found on Monday at Southmere Lake with a gunshot wound to the head on Monday.

The swan was recovered under the foot bridge near Bazalgette Way SE2.

Met Wildlife crime unit urged Londoners who may have any more information to come forward.
