Swan causes motorway rush-hour mayhem as it tries to cross busy Scots carriageway

A swan caused rush-hour mayhem today as it crossed a busy Scots motorway.

The bird was spotted crossing the M74 southbound at Junction 6 around 6.35am on Thursday August 5.

Traffic Scotland tweeted that the swan was first seen on the hard shoulder and advised drivers to exercise caution when travelling.

They joked "Looks like it's the chicken's day off" and added that TRISS had also been dispatched to the scene near the Hamilton area.

An update to their "Feather Forecast" was provided ten minutes later saying the swan had now flown away, according to cameras.

All lanes were cleared and Traffic Scotland added "He's a good egg, really."
