Suzzanne Douglas has died.
The American actress passed away at the age of 64 on Tuesday night at her home in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, her husband Dr. Roy Jonathan Cobb told TMZ.
He said: "Her energy and creativity will be missed by all."
Dr Roy added that her death came after complications from cancer.
The Jason's Lyric star's death cousin Angie Tee also confirmed the death on on Facebook.
Grieving Angie penned: "Suzzanne Douglas a beautiful and talented actress made her transition today.
"She warmed our hearts on movie screens and television sets all over the world. This beautiful soul was my cousin."
Following the sad news, several famous faces took to social media to share their fond memories of Suzzanne.
Jada Pinkett Smith wrote: "I woke up this morning to the news that Suzzanne Douglas has passed away. I worked with Suzzanne in the film Inkwell. She was an elegant, gentle warm spirit. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. May she rest in love."
One wrote: "Suzzanne Douglas was a quiet, elegant force as we made WHEN THEY SEE US. A gentlewoman. A gem of a lady. A confident, caring actor who breathed life into the words and made them shimmer. I’m grateful that our paths in this life crossed. May she journey on in peace and love."
American filmmaker Ava DuVernay added: "Suzzanne Douglas was a quiet, elegant force as we made WHEN THEY SEE US. A gentlewoman. A gem of a lady. A confident, caring actor who breathed life into the words and made them shimmer. I’m grateful that our paths in this life crossed. May she journey on in peace and love."
Suzzanne's impressive career began in the 1980s when she won a role in soap opera Guiding Light.
The critically-acclaimed actress was awarded an NAACP Image Award twice - once in 1984 and again in 2004.
Her other movieparts includes the 90's classics Jason's Lyric, and How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
Suzzanne was best known for her role as Jerri Peterson in The Parent 'Hood, which was aired for four seasons from 1995 to 1999.
