Takayuki Suzuki swam to a bronze-medal finish in the SM4 class of the men's 150-meter individual medley at the Tokyo Paralympics on Saturday.

Suzuki finished the race for the motor impaired in 2 minutes 40.53 seconds.

The 34-year-old collected his third medal at the Tokyo Games, following gold medal in the 100 freestyle S4 and bronze in the 50 breaststroke SB3.

A native of Hamamatsu, Suzuki was born without legs, while his right arm is only elbow length.

Suzuki has competed at five consecutive Paralympic Games since Athens in 2004. He took the gold medal in the 50 breaststroke and bronze in the 150 individual medley at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Based in Britain, he has continued training. At the Asian Para Games in 2018, he earned five gold medals, a competition high for a Japanese athlete.
