Suzie Bates surpasses Virat Kohli to become top run-getter in T20Is

NEW DELHI: New Zealand prominent women’s cricketer Suzie Bates scripted history on Sunday as she became the leading run-getter in T20Is, surpassing star Indian player Virat Kohli.

Bates has now accumulated 4,021 runs in 149 T20Is, maintaining an average of 29.78, along with an impressive record of 26 half-centuries and one century while Kohli, who participated in his last T20I during the T20 World Cup, has scored 4,008 runs across 115 matches at an exceptional average of 52.73, boasting 37 half-centuries and one century.

Bates broke Kohli's record during her innings of 45 against South Africa women. However Bates' knock, which also included a six and five boundaries, went in vain as Proteas women won the match by 11 runs.

In the realm of women's cricket, Australia's captain Meg Lanning holds the distinction of being the second-highest run-scorer, amassing a total of 3,405 runs from 132 T20Is. Her impressive batting record reflects an average of 36.61, featuring 15 half-centuries and two centuries.
