Suzi Perry on her incredible 25 year career and her 'dream perfect team'

MotoGP presenter Suzi Perry's career has gone strength-to-strength since she began 25 years ago.

From 1997, she covered MotoGP for 13 years for the BBC before stepping down in 2010 and moving to BT Sport in 2016.

The motorsports expert has covered many events over the years, including Royal Ascot, the Epsom Derby, Wimbledon, the London Marathon and more.

After 25 years of sports reporting, it's easy to get used to the endless travelling as well as speaking to the biggest names in motorsport.

Unsurprisingly, Suzi used to think travelling and seeing new countries was a 'real shiny part of the job', but it now feels like getting from 'A to B'.

"I still love the sport as much as the day that I started and I still feel as passionate about it," Suzi revealed to Mirror when asked about how she feels about her career after so many years.

"And now I have this 25 years of experience and working with different people and I finally have what I would say is my dream perfect team to work with.

"I feel extremely lucky to be here doing it."

The 52-year-old, who was brought up in Finchfield in Wolverhampton, used to be a 'lone wolf' at the beginning of her career.

"I think it probably took me a good 10 years to get respected in the paddock on a mass scale than the odd person here and there," she added.

She reminded herself that you can't 'please everybody all the time' and to keep going, which resulted in a fruitful career and respect from those around her.

And now, she has the 'perfect team' to be with – who she loves working with as they all bring something 'different to the job'.

"So we actually have a proper team where we all share information and stories and we were generously give other stories to people and it's quite unheard of in television to have a team like this," Suzi said.

Suzi had many moments in her career that she's proud of, including covering the Olympics and Formula One as well as helping out Sport Relief, so narrowing it down was difficult.

The broadcaster was even the first permanent female anchor for BBC’s Formula One coverage.

With a career like Suzi's, it's always helpful to take the time to reflect and 'keep on learning'.

Discussing tips she would give girls going into her field, Suzi shared: "Know your sport inside. Don't take no for an answer.

"Keep on learning. correct yourself. Watch yourself back and see what you do wrong and don't do it again. But watch yourself."
