Police investigating a crime syndicate behind 21 kilograms of dried cannabis and more than $14,000 in cash found after a traffic stop want to trace a grey Ford Ranger SUV.

They want members of the public to come forward if they were around Macdermott Place in Belconnen on Sunday evening.

They said they believed there were several witnesses there who may have helpful information.

"In particular, police would like to speak to anyone who has dash-cam footage or saw a grey Ford Ranger SUV," a statement said.

After a traffic stop, the police discovered the large amount of cannabis and cash. The cannabis was in the back of the car.

It's not clear if the cash was there, too, or at a property linked to the vehicle's driver.

Police believe a crime syndicate focused on the supply of cannabis and other drugs into the ACT is responsible.

They said the marijuana was found in vacuum-sealed bags in the back of the car.

Police said they also found five mobile phones in the SUV.

If you have information about this matter, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website, and quote reference number 6544498. Information can be provided anonymously.
