Sustainable-living advocate Priscilla Woolworth lists her Valley Glen compound for sale

Sept. 25--Sustainable-living author Priscilla Woolworth has listed a compound in Valley Glen for sale at $1.45 million.

The 1930s Spanish-style house, with beamed-ceilings and French doors, sits on a third of an acre on a tree-lined street.

Some 2,509 square feet of living space include a living room, a dining room, a library/family room, a 1950s era kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a powder room. Corner fireplaces grace the living room and master bedroom.

The solar-powered property also has two guesthouses. The drought-tolerant yard includes pesticide-free gardens, fruit and citrus trees, a swimming pool and a dining pergola draped with grape vines and wisteria.

Perhaps the most unusual feature is a lending library at the street.

Woolworth's great-grandfather was a cousin of dime-store founder Frank Winfield Woolworth. Her grandfather expanded the chain in the United Kingdom. She is the author of the book "LOLA Lots of Love Always," a health and lifestyle reference book.

She bought the property in 2002 for $841,500, public records show. The income-generating property has been used as a film and print shoot location.

Kelly Sutherland of Coldwell Banker is the listing agent.
