Suspicious package found in West Lothian posed no risk

The Centre, Livingston was evacuated yesterday after workers received a suspicious package.

Shoppers were ushered from the mall at around 3.30pm after reports  a bank had received an item that raised suspicions.

One shopper said she had been in Primark when the emergency alarm went off and she and other shoppers were instructed to leave.

She said: "We've been out about 45 minutes and one of the staff said they had heard it was a suspicious package."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in West Lothian received a report of a suspicious package having been delivered to a bank within the Centre, Livingston, around 3.20pm on Thursday, March 28.

"A partial evacuation of the centre took place and a cordon was established as a precaution while officers dealt with the incident.

"The package was found to pose no risk to the public. Local businesses and shoppers are thanked for their co-operation during this time."
