Suspended Harris to miss one-dayer

Marcus Harris has been suspended for one match after accepting a charge for abuse of equipment. (AAP)

Test opener Marcus Harris will miss Wednesday's one-dayer between Victoria and Tasmania after being given a one-match ban.

Harris, who opened for Australia during their Test-series decider against India at the Gabba, has accepted the level-one offence.

The incident comes after recent debate over the conduct of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, who last month fumed at Sheffield Shield dismissals but avoided sanctions.

Harris was charged with 'abuse of equipment' during his side's Shield draw against Tasmania at the MCG.

The batsman struggled to hide his disbelief after being judged caught behind, having shouldered arms in Victoria's first innings.

Harris held up his elbow to the umpire, appearing to indicate the ball had come off his arm rather than the bat.

The 28-year-old then slammed his bat against the turf while trudging off.

Harris was fined half of his match fee and had one suspension point added to his record.

Combined with a previous penalty, it was enough to sideline him from Wednesday's match at Melbourne's Junction Oval.

Victoria have rested James Pattinson, Jon Holland and Will Sutherland from the clash, while Tim Paine will skipper the visitors.

An unwell Paine missed the recent Shield match, but the Test skipper has since tested negative for COVID-19.

Tasmania captain Matthew Wade has been rested, while Ben McDermott is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Express paceman Riley Meredith is missing the game because of fears his selection would affect the Vics' chances of entering Western Australia for upcoming fixtures in Perth.
