Suspects on the run from Gardai after Post Office robbery goes wrong in Drogheda, Co Louth

Gardai are looking for two suspects after they attempted to rob a cash in transit employee at a Louth Post Office on Wednesday.

Two men attempted to take a drop off box, filled with cash, from the employee in Drogheda at 9:45am.

After failing in their plan, the two men fled from the scene before Gardai arrived.

Nobody was injured in the attempted robbery, with officers now on the lookout for the two suspects.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an attempted robbery of a cash in transit employee outside a post office in Drogheda that occurred on 2/12/20 at approximately 9:45am.

"Two males attempted to take a cash box from a staff member carrying out drop offs. Both men fled the scene without taking anything.



"No injuries occurred and investigations are ongoing."
