Suspected World War 2 bomb found in Edwalton woodland

Police have moved to reassure that the public that a suspected World War 2 bomb found in Nottinghamshire is safe.

The force received a report at around 9.10am on Wednesday April 29 after what looked like an old bomb had been found in woodland off Firs Road in Edwalton.

Nottinghamshire Police officers and the Bomb Disposal Unit attended the scene and examined the item but it was deemed to be not live or dangerous.

No evacuations took place while inspections were made, the force confirmed.

Rushcliffe Cops added on Twitter: "Suspected World War 2 bomb found in Edwalton is deemed safe.

"Our officers and The Bomb Disposal Unit have examined what appeared to be an old bomb found in woodland off Firs Road and declared it not live or dangerous."
